Safety

Anyone engaged in any act of conduct deemed unsafe by the judge or show management, or in any act of cruelty to or abuse of an animal anywhere on the grounds will be barred from further competition and will be asked to vacate the grounds immediately. All entry feed will be forfeited. Also it is the competitor’s responsibility to be certain that the animal, vehicle and the harness are in sound condition. No competitor will be allowed to continue when, in the opinion of the judge or show management, any part of the turnout, including the animal has become unsafe.

Bridles

Bridles should be adjusted to fit snugly to prevent catching on a vehicle or other pieces of harness. A throatlatch, noseband or cavesson are mandatory. Removing the bridle or detaching the reins from the bit before unhitching the horse from the vehicle, anywhere on the ground, will result in instant elimination.

Harness

All entries must be shown in pleasure carriage harness. Trace chains are prohibited. Flash nosebands are strongly discouraged in pleasure driving classes.

Vehicle and Wheels

Wire-wheeled vehicles (pneumatic tires) are permitted. Any vehicle deemed unsafe by show management or judge will not be permitted to compete.

Driver, Passenger and Grooms

All in the vehicle should be neatly turned out. Driving aprons or lap robes, hats, gloves and driving whips are required in all classes. Helmets or hard hats are acceptable in all classes and will not be penalized. PROTECTIVE HEAD GEAR IS REQUIRED FOR DRIVES OR PASSENGERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IN ALL CLASSES. Grooms are someone who is capable of rendering assistance in the event of difficulty; a groom is optional for a single turnout. All passengers/grooms must have a signed waiver on file with the show secretary.
